easter weekend

I'm happy I have this little place in the blogging world to keep track of my memories of our day-to-day life. I am finding the days are zooming by so quickly as my two boys grow, with the days being filled with so many things...sometimes its difficult to live in the moment and be thankful for what is going on around me.
Easter weekend has come and gone. I decided to stay home on Good Friday instead of going to church. Jesse played drums and I figured I would be spending most of my time in the nursery anyways with Gavin and Cameron. We chose the nap and cuddles route and spent the morning watching Diego and Blue's Clues (what else?), listening to some great Easter music (2nd Chapter of Acts and Songza's worship playlist) and taking a nap.
Mom and dad offered to watch Cameron in the afternoon, so we took Gavin to Birdhouse City in Picton for some outdoor time. Gavin was a little upset to know that we were leaving Cameron behind, but once we got outside and started walking around, he had forgotten about his little brother.
It was such a gorgeous afternoon!
Gavin loved looking at the different shaped birdhouses. His favourites were the police car, train and castle. As we left he said goodbye to all the birdhouses.
We kicked the ball around and then headed back to mom and dad's so I could feed Cameron and then eat supper together.

Sunday we went to church in the morning and then went to mom and dad's for a late lunch with the family. Our family is getting so big, but what a blessing they all are! It may be noisy and chaotic at times (and finding a chair at the table for everyone is getting more and more difficult as the kids get older), but I love them so much. It's awesome to have a friendship with each of my siblings and their spouses. I love watching the kiddos play together and laugh as they chase each other around the kitchen. What great memories they will have.
Dad hid Easter eggs while we were at church (he wasn't feeling well) and we had a great time looking for the eggs, even though by that time it was cold and windy. Gavin did an awesome job finding eggs and had fun putting his treasures into the shopping bag that I held.

After we put Gavin to bed, Jesse and I (and Cameron) watched the final episode of The Bible that has been playing on the History channel the past couple of Sundays. So powerful. It was the crucifixion, resurrection, and then beginning of the first church and Paul's life. I watched The Passion when were were in college so I have been swept away by the portrayal of Jesus before in that movie, but re-watching it again through this mini series was powerful and necessary. I find so often that it is easy to thank Jesus for the cross...but not actually think and dwell on what it means. On the true sacrifice that Jesus did for our sins. On the pain and agony He felt. On Mary and how she reacted as she watched her firstborn, her beloved son go through that anguish and then die on the cross.
What love!
