lately

It's been a while since I've blogged over here, so I thought I'd give an update to what we have been up to lately.

Thanksgiving weekend was gorgeous, so we decided to do our annual trip to Campbell's orchard to go apple picking. Gavin was more into it this year as he could actually help pick the apples, recognize the animals and play on the playground. Cameron just watched the fun going on around him. And clapped. Since he does that now. All the time actually. It's pretty cute. :)
We've been trying to spend as much time as we can outside before it gets too cold. We have been walking to the park on Bleeker some evenings or I try to go during the afternoon with the boys. Gavin can now walk to the park, which is a couple of blocks away, but coming home is another story. He always wants me to carry him home...plus push Cameron in the stroller.

These pictures are from this afternoon when Melody and I took our kids to the park. It was a beautiful afternoon, with a slight chill in the air. Cameron loves the swing.
Gavin loves jumping off of anything (it may become a problem) and climbing anything (also may become a problem).
Cameron just turned eight months old yesterday. EIGHT MONTHS OLD!! I seriously can't believe it. He has one little tooth on the bottom and I think another coming in beside it. He doesn't crawl yet, but instead pushes himself backwards when he is on the ground. He loves jumping in his jolly jumper and looks like he is going to take off walking when he is in it.
He is so happy all the time and loves to talk. He can say "da da" and likes to grunt and is very expressive!
He adores his big brother and Gavin feels the exact same about Cameron. I can't wait to see these two grow up together and get into mischief.
Gavin loves life and having fun. He LOVES playing outside. Especially if his daddy is outside with him. He changes his mind about what he wants to play in seconds. Hockey - baseball - back to hockey - to running - to jumping in the leaves. He wants to do it all.
He is a monkey. He loves making jokes and has just learned his first 'knock knock' joke. He isn't too good at the beginning or the middle, but he can tell the punch line like no other. :)
Right now his favourite thing to ask is, "what's that?" He is very curious. And very sensitive. Lots of things are "scarwey". From sharks to dinosaurs to the spider crawling up the wall. With Halloween being right around the corner, we have had to have a few conversations about God protecting us and "Don't worry. Sharks live in the oceans and we don't live near the ocean so you don't have to worry about sharks right now."
He loves reading, especially Franklin. Or watching Franklin. Anything Franklin the Turtle he is obsessed about. And he is learning his ABC's very quickly. He can count to 10 and sometimes up in the teens, with help. He loves to paint and play with playdough. Hockey is still his favourite sport, though soccer is a close second. Sometimes I find him on the ipad just scrolling through the TSN app, watching random sports videos.
He is learning not to bite people and how to be kind to others. That one is a challenge, but I know he will learn.
He loves God and enjoys singing, "the Holy song" which is actually 'Great I Am' by New Life Worship. He is also getting pretty good at singing, "Jesus Loves Me".
He is crazy about the drums and always gets excited when Jesse plays them on a Sunday morning.

They are both changing so much. I am so blessed to be their mom.
