I don't know about you, but I love coming downstairs in the morning (usually too early for my liking) and walking into a clean kitchen. Dishes done and sometimes put away (they are usually left in the dish rack drying, which is better than dirty on the counter).
My day starts so much better when I don't have to wash the dirty dishes from the night before. Of course there are those nights when I seriously do not want to do.one.more.thing and just want to sit down on the couch and either relax or work on my computer. And so the dirty dishes sit till the next morning.
I also enjoy walking into the living room and seeing it free from little toys, balls, blocks, and hockey sticks. During the day it usually looks like a bomb went off and from the explosion the couch cushions also blew off and ended up on the floor, (which are perfect for little boys to jump on and practice their somersaults), but before Gavin goes to bed, we clean up the toys and put them away for the night. Jesse and I can sit down at night and relax with a clutter-free living room floor.
If needed, I also do a couple loads of laundry at night - I don't fold it though. Let's be honest here. It sometimes goes a week before I get to folding laundry. And then by that time, it's dirty again.
I am far from the days of preparing school lunches and getting outfits ready the night before (although Saturday nights I do like to get outfits ready for church the next morning since we need to be there by 8:15 am), so I don't have to worry about doing that before heading to bed.
Small things, but they make a difference. I am then able to concentrate on today and not worry about the little tasks from the day before.
