sharing your story

One night this week, one of my sisters and I snuggled up on my couch with a giant bag of leftover Easter candy (dangerous to have in your house by the way) and watched a new documentary called, "American Blogger." This documentary shares the stories of a group of different and unique women that blog in the United States. They all live in different places and have different experiences that they share in their blogs and different reasons why they blog, but one thing is the same between them all: they all share their story.

It got me thinking about sharing our stories. God has made us so unique and has given us different stories. We may live in the same town, go to the same church and have the same number of kids, but our stories are different.
Some people have had great difficulty in the past with a crazy awesome testimony of how God saved them. Others, like myself, have had pretty "plain" lives, with seemingly nothing too noteworthy happen to us.

Though I may have a pretty, I'll say, normal life, I still have a story to share. God has moved and worked in my life in pretty amazing ways. He has given me talents that are not to be kept to myself. He has given me experiences that I can share and hopefully encourage others with.
Sometimes it is scary to open up and share about your past and some of the things you have learned, but it is necessary to learn and to grow. God has not put you on this earth to hide away in your house and keep your life to yourself and your family. Share your story.
Maybe it is as simple as opening up your home and sharing your life with another stay-at-home mom and her kids for a morning play date. Maybe it is blogging. It could be in the form of a conversation at the coffee shop. Whatever form it takes, open up and share.
